Pasture Raised Turkey

Pasture-raised Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys are a popular choice for those seeking a more natural and ethical turkey, they are known for their rich flavor and impressive size, making them a favorite for holiday feasts and special occasions. Our first batch of turkeys weighed in at 60lbs live and made a very impressive thanksgiving feast.

Our turkeys will forage over half of their diet, and we raise them with the chickens. Once the turkeys are of a considerable size to fend for themselves, they come out of the brooders and run around with the hens all day long.

 

We have never had a turkey that was not friendly or happy to see us, I often compare them to the personality of a dog. 

Now onto the more serious reason to consider our turkey for your table; ethical raising practices and a higher quality meat. We love our animals, slaughter days are hard, but that's what farming is about. We use high-protein feeds specifically for turkeys from our local mill, their feed gives them the protein and vitamins they need that they may not get from bugs and grass. The turkeys are by no means "packed in". We do not use poultry tractors for our turkeys; they are free range and able to go quite literally wherever they want. They chose to come home (which we are very grateful for). The taste is much cleaner than the grocery store alternative, the turkey will have little to no excess fat drippings, with very tender meat. We laser fry our turkeys and did not have the clear the grease pan on the 60Lb turkey compared to the need to clear the pan 4-5 times on a 18lb butterball. 

We raise a limited number of turkeys because they do not like to leave the house area, and well 30 turkeys by the house is a lot. In the future we may expand to give them a house in a surrounding field, but for now we will take reservations for only 25 turkeys a year and plan to have 5-7 available closer to slaughter date. I want to ensure all reservations get the best quality and closest to desired size as possible.
